Kate's Halloween Dilema

Hello, I'm Kate from Recent Treats.  My little blog is my little rambling scrapbook of about my life - I write about things I've done, what I'm wearing, shops, beauty, recipes - pretty much whatever takes my fancy!  I just want to say thanks to Ray for letting me post whilst she's away and I'm pretty jealous of her being in the sun!

My little post is about my favourite night out - Halloween fancy dress!

Every year me and my friends go out on the Halloween weekend dressed up.  We all go round to someone's house to get ready (and have a few drinks!) then we head out to a nightclub in town where it's odd NOT to be in fancy dress on the Saturday nearest to Halloween.  We've never had a bad night yet!  The fun part is spending the few weeks beforehand deliberating on which costumes to wear.  I'm not a fan of the whole 'cos it's Halloween I'm going to go out in my underwear look', and so this year I've put together some Polyvore boards as inspiration for classy Halloween fancy dress ideas...

We're torn between devils and witches this year - whatever we chose I'm already set on having huge backcombed hair, dark gothic eyes with huge eyelashes, black nails and big heels! What are you going to go as for Halloween this year??

Aseya's Fall Picks

Hi everyone!
I'm Aseya :) I'm from Dubai and I have a beauty blog called Pretty in the Desert. Ray has graciously allowed me to guest post while she's away on holiday. There are so many awesome new things that I am lusting after for fall, it's almost making my head spin. I thought I'd share some, so here we go!
Charlotte Ronson Masquerade Collection Set, from Sephora
This set contains everything you need to create a great fall look, all in a super cute makeup bag. I love how the shadows and lipsticks can take you from day to night.
Snake Suede Biker Jacket from Topshop
I love this jacket from Topshop. The snakeskin detail adds something unexpected and the cropped length means that I can wear it during a Dubai winter without sweating to death.
Rachel Zoe Yvonne Dress

As Rachel Zoe would say, this. Dress. Is. Ba-nanas. I love it! It's literally the perfect party dress. I'm going to have to hunt down a knock off of this because I love it so much!

Prada Criss Cross Wedge Bootie

I'm so glad that wedge booties are still in, because I didn't get to try them out last winter. These Prada ones are gorgeous and would definitely fit the bill!
House of Harlow 1960 Crystal and Leather Bangles

I've been lusting after the HOH bangles for a while now. They're perfect, a little bit rock n roll and a whole lot of class. They'd be great to wear with almost anything and can be stacked for more drama.
Of course, no Lust List would be complete without a gorgeous bag!
Micheal Kors Sloan Metallic Clutch

This metallic clutch works with every thing. It's a great size and it even has a shoulder chain so you can let it hang when you're dancing! It's so pretty!
Well, those are (most of) the things that I am lusting after this season! What are you lusting after right now?
ps. Thanks again for letting me guest post, Ray! :)

Jude's Favourite Face Mask

Hello lovelies,

It's Jude here, I have popped over from http://www.lovelustandfairydust.com/ to guest post whilst Ray is grabbing herself some winter sunshine.

Many years ago when I worked as a beauty therapist I trained in Elemis treatments.  Ten years later I still have my favourites from the Elemis range and today I am going to share my favourite face mask with you.

Elemis Fruit Active Rejuvinating Mask.

This gorgeous mask is packed with active extracts of Strawberry and Kiwi fruit and restores the glow to dull complexions.  When applied it looks like a typical clay mask, but that is where the similarity ends.  The mask has a lovely fresh fruity aroma, it doesn't dry to cracking point on the skin, it is very creamy and feels lovely and comforting on the skin.

The mask is perfect as a flash treatment before a special occasion as once removed the skin literally glows with health and freshness.  It is a perfect treatment this time of year when the skin is constantly exposed to the cold weather and then the central heating.  It is the perfect pick-me-up treatment that totally transforms the look and the feel of your skin.  After use make up just glides on and the glow shines through the make up.

As a therapist I used this on all skin types except highly sensitive/reactive skin.

The mask is available at larger department stores that have an Elemis consession, Elemis Spas and Salons, Elemis on line and QVC.

It retails at around £26.00 for 75ml.

If you would like to pop over to my blog at http://www.lovelustandfairydust.com/ it would be lovely to see you there.

Thank you Ray for allowing me to post on your fabulous blog.

Amy's Ultimate Autumn Eye Shadow

Hi guys!

I’m Amy from Paperbacks & Postcards and I’m a 22 year old make-up fiend! My blog mainly contains posts of my recent eye shadow experiments with the odd fashion and haul post thrown in there for good measure.

Today I thought I would show you my most favourite eye shadow for autumn and a really nice look that is super simple to achieve!

The eye shadow in question?
MAC Club.

Club is a beautiful eye shadow,  it’s a duochrome (my favourite kind!). What’s a duochrome? A shadow that appears one colour but when the light shines on it or it’s in shadow it looks a completely different shade. They really are special and I think they are the best MAC eyeshadows. With Club the base colour is a reddish brown and the duochrome is a lovely greenish grey colour. I love Club as it's so versatile, it can be applied lightly in the crease for a neutral eye shadow look; it can be used as a liner; it looks amazing along the lower lashes to add a pop of colour and it can be used all by itself (well with a bit of black eyeliner…) to create a smoky eye.

That is what I am going to be showing you today. A classic autumnal smoky eye using one eye shadow and a black kohl pencil. (I also used another eye shadow in the inner corner but that step is optional).

What I did
1. Apply a black kohl pencil or black cream base all over the eyelid to just below the crease.
2. Blend the edges of this with a fluffy brush so that there isn’t a definite edge to this.
3. Pat the Club eye shadow over the top of the black base. This is where the magic happens. It won’t apply as the reddy brown it appears in the pan – it will become a green shade!
4. Take a fluffy blending brush and apply some of the Club eyeshadow to the crease. Blend this out and a reddish glow should appear right above the crease.
5. Take your blending brush again and make sure that the greeny colour on your lid blends in to the red colour in your crease.

That’s it! Super simple!

Optional step: Take a gold eyeshadow and apply to the inner corners of your eyes to help brighten the look up and make it even more autumnal looking.

I really hope that you enjoyed this tutorial and that you will check out my blog for some similar posts some time soon!

A huge thank you to Ray for letting me take over Who Is She? for a day!

Lauren's Review- Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

Hi Everyone,

Its Lauren from Lauren Loves taking over today. Last week I was sent the Boujois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation for review – as a fan of the original Healthy Mix foundation I was quite excited to try this. I am reviewing no 52 – Vanilla.

Packaging

Packaging says: Gel Foundation – 16 hours radiance-boosting. Even, revived complexion. Instant blending gel, flawless complexious, undetectible coverage. Vitamin-rich fruits lychee, goji berries, pomegranate. Hypoallergenic.

The packaging is nice – a basic glass jar with a pump applicator which dispenses enough for me in 1 pump and maintains a clean product.
Product
Firstly, this isn’t a gel in the sense that it’s like a shower gel. It behaves much like any other foundation but is a little more “together” in consistency like a gel I suppose.

The foundation itself is easy to spread and blend as it doesn’t dry out instantly like a more traditional cream foundation. I always apply foundation with a brush but this is easy to apply with fingers, a brush or sponge I’ve found. It smells delicious – really fruity (not good for those who aren’t a fan of fruity smells though!) It’s also very light on the skin and doesn’t appear oily at all.

Importantly, here’s the before and after:

Left: no makeup at all; Right: Healthy Mix Foundation only.

Apologies for the rollers – I was making my hair massive.

As you can see it gives a good coverage for red areas of the skin and really picks skin up so it seems to glow but gives a natural coverage so it doesn’t look caked on (I hate obvious foundation). It also has great staying power – it’s quite matt and stays matt for 8 hours – it looks fresh at the end of the working day which I was very impressed with. It also suits my pale skin tone which is a plus as most foundations make me look orange!

Overall
Packaging: 3.5/5 – nothing wow, just a normal foundation packaging
Product – 5/5 – I really love this foundation! I’ve been wearing it constantly since I got it and would definitely buy a bottle when this runs out. The lasting-power of this is fantastic and I’ve had lots of compliments on how well I look which is nice!!

Love,
Lauren xxx

What's in Steph's Holiday Makeup Bag??

Hello all!

Ray has very kindly let me loose on her blog again whilst she suns herself in Tenerife and I'm guessing I'm not gonna be the only one whose jealous of this fact! If you don't already know me I'm Steph from Ess-Jay24 and i blog about what makes me happy, whether it be shopping for make up and clothes or just my lifestyle in general, it's all a bit random.

So whilst Ray is on her jollies, I thought it would be appropriate to do a related post of what was in my make up bag when i went away to Bulgaria a month ago *sobs*  I love reading 'What's in my bag' and 'Make up bag' posts, so thought I would show you what i took away with me on holiday make up wise.

We went away for just one week, which is unusual for as we either do a city break for a few days or go away for 2weeks. It's been ages since I'd been away for just a week, so packing was horrendous for me, I still took too much! We had 15kg allowance for luggage, mine was 14.9! Phew! I need to learn how to pack lighter!

Anyway, onto what i took with me:
Face products I took:
Revlon PhotoReady Compact Foundation - which I just used at night for a couple of days
Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Light
Bourjois Bronzer
Rimmel Blusher - Pink Rose
Erase Paste
Collection 2000 in Fair and Light

Eye Products:
Sleek Make up palette - Storm
E.l.f Make up palette
Mac Eyeshadow - Sable
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil
Colourworks Black Eyeliner Pencil
White Eyeliner Pencil (don't know the brand)
Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner - Black
Avon Supershock Gel Liner - Bronze
Max Factor False Lash Effect - Black

Benefit F.Y..Eye Primer
Benefit High Beam

Lip Products:
Mac Creme Cup Lipstick
Mac Shy Girl Lipstick - bought at Duty Free
Barry M Lipgloss Toffee

I also took my No7 Tinted moisturiser which I used pretty much everyday, but make up wise I think I could have taken a bit less as I hardly used the foundation, lip gloss and never used the e.l.f palette.

Any tips on packing lighter for next time I go away would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading and thank you to the amazing Ray for letting me do this post for you guys :)

Jolly Green Giant JEM

Hey,

I'm back for a day.

This is my very first OOTD from our epic night out a fortnight ago for Laura's birthday - excuse the fact I look like a jolly green giant and that I'm wearing half a Cosmopolitan down my dress - stupid martini glasses are just asking for trouble in a crowded bar if you ask me.

It was my first proper night out in fourteen months and I'm proud to say I wasn't asleep in a corner by 10pm which is kinda what I'd expected.  I did end up with a sticky arm and a blister on one toe though. All in all it was a fab night.

Ooo You've Made Me Blush

So if you saw my post earlier on in the month of what I recieved in my RayBox you will have noticed that I had bought a Topshop Blush in Pinch. Now considering how long Topshop makeup has been out (and you know how that place is my second home) I've finally gotten around to buying some of their cream blushes for my holiday, as I don't want to be taking my beloved Mac Posey with me incase anything happens to it.

Firstly the packaging- how cute!! Really like how simplistic it is, yet its really girly. Definate thumbs up for me Sir Green. So onto the colours which I have bought..

High Five.
This actually looks like a bright fushia pink in this picture however I don't be put off as its actually quite a light pink when you put it on. It actually reminds me of a slightly lighter version of Mac Posey.

Head Over Heels.
This is a beautiful coral. Seriously balls to Mac Posey, I've been wearing this everyday for work since getting it. It honestly like a your cheeks but better shade. This looks slightly pink in this photo however the picture below you can clearly see the difference between the two.
Head Over Heels (bottom), High Five (top).

Now initally I didn't take any swatches when I took these photos as I had my dark fake tan on, and the colours weren't that vivid, so cue de-tanned arm swatches for you.
High Five- Top, Head Over Heels- Bottom.

Picture on the left is heavily swatched, picture on the right is them blended out. I've been using my Elf Stippling Brush to apply this, and I think I've been lost throughout my life for not using one of these brushes.

I really want Neon Rose.

Topshop Cream Blushes cost a purse friendly £6 and is avaliable online or in selected stores.

He-Shi Face Tan

*I've finally been able to upload the pictures for this post- hurrah*
If you are a regular reader of “Who is She” you will know how much I LOVE (or should that be obsessed) with He-Shi Dark Foaming Mousse (read my review here). Now at the same time of receiving the Dark Mousse to try, I also got send the Facial Tanning Gel (*). Now I am not going to lie to you that personally I am not a fan of facial tanners- I go by the mentality of "what is good enough for your body is good enough for your face". In all honestly I was worried about the colour of my face not matching my body.
However I think He-Shi has hit the nail on the head with their facial gel.

As you can see from this the tan appears to be very dark- do not be put off with this. Just think the darker the lotion, the less chance there is of streaking.
When rubbed in the gel (like the mousse) absorbs straight into the skin, and goes fairly light. Now when testing this, I only did one thin coat on my face and this was a perfect match to what would be one coat of normal (not dark) fake tan.
As I am a brilliant blogger I forgot to take close up pictures- now if you see my outfit post here- I am wearing one coat of their facial tanner and one layer St Tropez on my top half. I can assure you that there were no streaks/orangeness from it. It provides enough colour that I went without foundation on that night out- I think this is a true testament to how good coverage it is.
I decided to try this gel again with the dark foaming mousse- but with two coats, and this was a perfect match to He-Shi Dark Foaming Mousse. The results of this can be seen on the OOTD post below.
Overall I am happy with the facial tanning gel, however once I’ve used this up, I don’t think I would repurchase this.
He-Shi Facial Tanning Gel is currently on offer for £10.40 for 100ml from the He-Shi website.

Smashin' Glassin'

Two days running with me inflicting pictures of myself upon you all- whatever have you done to deserve this. Actually blame my lazyness, you were supposed to be reading a product review today, however blogger has deleted my pictures and I need to go and upload them off my laptop.
May have accidently skived the gym last night after work- really couldn’t be bothered with it, so instead I spent a night with my favourite adopted family- the Kardashians. On a random note, how much of a crank is Kris (Kim’s bloke)?? Seriously he does my nut in.
Anyway I’m doing my party piece and going off on one- the outfit below was worn for Laura’s birthday night out down town a few weeks ago. I actually had decent hair that night, typical considering how hot it was, so as soon as I got into the first bar with JEM my hair decides to drop good and proper. Also antibiotics and alcohol don’t mix kids- hangover from hell on the Sunday morning.
Really loving these vests from Topshop, only £28 but can be dressed up or down, really like the zip detailing to the back too. Only downside with this vest is that its quite short in the body, shame they don’t do this in the cream in the tall section. However they sell it in loads of colours, so if you can get your hands on one- it’s a wardrobe staple. Still in love with my All Saints shell skirt, although its starting to get baggy on me- I refuse to part with it though.
Shell Skirt- All Saints
Shoes- Topshop last year
Vest- Topshop
Bag- Chanel
Cuff- Topshop

No Likey, No Lighty

I'm officially in pre-holiday stressing mode- too much to do, too little time.

Two wardrobes, 10 drawers of clothes into a 15kg suitcase... seriously...fml.

Quick outfit of the day for you from Saturday night, when I went to see Paddy McGuiness at the Metro Radio Arena with Stephy, the pest Laura was also there with her other half. In a nutshell- don't go and see him live, it was rubbish. Plan of action for this week is the following- work, gym, spinning, work, gym, work, spinning, work, gym, work, gym, spinning, gym, pack suitcase, cry cause I have no clothes, bed, airport, Tenerife (in that order).

Back to the outfit of the day, by the way I don't do dressed up for gigs at the arena.

Sheer/Lace top- Topshop (last year)
Jeans- Asos
Leather Jacket- New Look
Chanel XL Jumbo
Watch- Asos
Belt- All Sainta
Skull Bracelet- Topshop
Glasses- Rayban.

Check out the crater on my face. The spot of doom which will not budge.
Quick FOTD?? Go on then..

Elf Tinted Moisturizer- Nude
Topshop Blush- Head Over Heels (post to come)
Mac MSF Soft and Gentle
Mac NC20 concealer (did naff all for the spot)
Vivo Lippy in Barely there/nude/whatever its called.
Eyes- painterly paintpot, All that glitters, 17 wild curls mascara.

I actually hate Tesco Golden Vegtable cup a soup- worlds worst lunch.

Affordable Missoni?? Yes Please

If you are one of the lucky so and so's who live in America you will be more than aware of the Missoni collection for Target. As far as I'm aware, Target is like a department store, and many of the US big brands do collaborations with them. Now normally such collaborations pass me by, however when I saw this and then saw the below promo images- I NEED (more) MISSONI IN MY LIFE.

Currently the only bit of Missoni which I have in my life is a scarf, which I managed to get in a House of Fraiser sale. However I've always wanted a missioni cardigan, and often find that when I go onto Net-a-Porter I always end up clicking on Missoni.
As you can see from one of the promo advertising images- how fabulous does the collection look? This wouldn't look out of place gracing the covers of Vogue or Elle- it looks so high end.

However as Target doesn't want to ship items to the UK, and didn't want to allow me to ship anything to hotels (mate is in New York now), I've had to miss out. Although as predicted the majority of the collection sold out online pretty much straight away.

I'm keep searching on ebay to see if I can find a bargain, so these are whats on my wishlist...

I'm totally obsessed with the bed throws/cushions after seeing them on Rachel Zoe's bed in her TV show. I will own some Missoni!!

Do you own any of the pieces from the Missoni for Target collection?? If so link me up below :)

Glossybox?? Boudior Prive?? Feel Unique??

Pfffftt they're so last month..

Its all about the RayBox darlings..

So how does this work-
-Each month you spend £10 of your own hard cash and spend it on beauty/lifestyle products which you want.
-Each month your guarenteed products which you actually want, will use and will love!!
-So instead of wasting my money on potential crap/tat, each month I'm getting stuff I'll actually use/want.

Sounds brilliant doesn't it..

So for my October RayBox, it came in the form of a Topshop Carrier Bag (oooooo).

Whats inside, whats inside
Q10 Eyecream- £1.29 Home Bargains.
Topshop Cream Blush in Pinch- £6
Vivo Lipstick Barely There- £2 Tesco
St Ives Apricot Scrub Mini- £1 Asda
Oh and a bar of dairy milk which may have been eaten :s 60p

Value of products- £10.89

Topshop Cream Blush in Pinch, Vivo Cosmetics Lipstick in Barely There.

Couple of cheeky swatches for you- pinch blush (left) and barely there lippy (right).

Ironically- I wanted everything which I recieved in my RayBox...it must be psychic.

What do you all think?? I think after shelling out for both Glossybox and Boudior Prive, I'm definately all about the RayBox now, at least I know I'm getting stuff which I want haha. I wonder what I'll get in my November box??

September Favourites

Possibly I could be the last blogger to be posting my September favourites, and in all fairness, I haven't really been wearing that much make up the last month, or being arsed with my appearence. My life has been the following- work, gym, chill, work, gym, chill, work blah blah you get the picture. So this month's products are quite boring..

Macadamia Oil Treatment- I recieved this in last months Boudior Prive box, however I had noticed that Laura had been raving about this product on her blog before the BP boxes came out. I've used this twice and I have enjoyed using it, however my hair has been in quite good condition lately as I haven't been using my straighteners. I'm saving whats left of this for my holidays to give this a proper test. I'll do a more indepth review of this once I come back from my holidays.

Anti-histamines- Now I know on first glance of this, it kinda looks like a pill packet, and then put 2+2 together and get 10. However I've started the holiday prep aka "Operation Avaitar"- to prevent the face incident from happening again. My backside will not be used as a dart board again!! I may do a pre-holiday post next week on what I am planning on packing to prevent swolleness.

Korres Lip Butter*- Oh my god, my new favourite lipbalm, the chapstick can go do one. I recieved this with a voucher from Zalando and after eyeing the stand up in HoF at the metro centre, I'm so glad I got it. The shade I have has a slight tint to it, this is a constant feature on my desk at work. I'm after the mango version next. I'll talk about this more in my Zalando haul.

Elemis Rehydrating Ginseng Toner and Rehydrating Rosepetal Cleanser- As part of Holly's wedding present of her hubby DavyT she had a spa day to Bannatyne's spa, and these were some of the products which were used on our amazing facials. Both products are full size and we got these in a set with a miniture face cream for £25 (each bottle is £19 each). I've been alternating using these with my Liz Earle and I have to say with going to the gym nearly every night after work, my skin feels better after I've used these. My skin feels refreshed, whereas sometimes with LE my skin feels spotty (if that makes sense).

Lush Snow Fairy- I've noticed on a lot of your blogs that Lush have their Christmas stuff in, and Snow Fairy is back in stores (hurrah). This bottle is from last Christmas and due to the crappy cold weather we've been having I've been reaching for this. Add in the Boots Christmas Catologue and Hot Chocolate and I am feeling all Christmassy!!! Woohooo.

October Favourites will no dount be purely holiday favourites as I'm currently a hermit,

We're back...

Have you missed "Who is She"?? Have you?? Of course you have... well you bloody well better have!!
Yes today marks a new beginning for the blog- we're going bigger and better. We want to take our posts to the next level- how we do that, we'll figure it out on the way.
Just a few things to point out to you- have a look in the side bar, there's a list of featured blogs.. have a read of them in a second. Each rolling month those blog buttons will be changing.. if you want your blog featuring there, click on the marketing tab at the top for more details (or if you can't be arsed to click, email me). The deadline for next month's buttons will be a bit early with me going away, I will need them by no later than Friday 21st.
What else.. Blog Stalker is back, I've got a 1001 posts to get through, a backlog of hauls, quite a lot of product reviews, the Leeds Blogger Meet up, some guest posts by some of my friends, holiday guest posts.. the list goes on.
As always thank you for sticking with us, and your support. I need to say a massive thank you to Laura, Jules and Ellie for their help with the blog layout and a massive thank you to Ana for her design work.

Oh and incase you forgot what me and JEM look like..
Red hot bar in town + rammed full + sweltering heat = this... (the it all went down hill)
