Somewhere Over The Taupe...

I think I may have found my go-to polish for A/W- Opi Over the Taupe. I bought this for Holly's Hen Do pt2 from ebay for £5 including p+p. Now for some reason I wanted a nail polish to kinda be a similiar colour to Mac Satin Taupe, however its not as purple based (if that makes sense), however regardless I am in love.

Now it needs to be noted that unlike most other Opi polishes this is very watery, and takes at least a good 2-3 coats to get a good finish. I won't lie I was initally disapointed when I initally put the first coat on, however after the second coat, all doubt had gone. I'll also warn you that regardless of how hard you try, the polish is going to dry (on the first coat) very streaky and uneven, however when you let the second coat to dry it evens itself out.

This colour reminds me of a darker version of Barry M Mushroom, but unlike Barry M, Over the Taupe lasted me a good 4 days without chipping (and thats without wearing a top coat). I also think this is the type of colour which looks fab on a night out, but its also work appropriate. Thanks to Laura I get my Opi polishes from the seller Beautyzone2007 on ebay. Way cheaper than over here and it only takes a week for delivery. You can also get Essie and China Glaze polishes from this seller too.

Over the Taupe?? Yey or Ney??

Mr and Mrs...

So the big day had finally arived for the worlds most calm and collected bride on Saturday for Holly. I've put a couple of pictures on here, however I'll share more better ones when we get to see the official wedding pictures. Everything went to plan on Saturday- Holly was back in bed asleep at 10am on the morning as you do. Even though it was pouring down- the sun came out for her wedding photos. As you can see Holly looked stunning in her dress, and her husband David scrubbed up quite well too.

Cutting of the cake (part of the cake exploded before the meal).

Holly's rings- check out her gel nails (a post on that to come).

Holly and Me- what time is it?? Rose o Clock!!!

Whats Haute and Whats Naute- Summer Holiday Facts Special

Oh yes for one day only WHAWN is back with a Summer Holiday Facts Special, with a contribution from the one and only JEM. What are we waiting for... lets get on it..

- Cockroaches are actually spying devices employed by the local FBI to spy on forgien tourists. Hence being undestructuable.

- The rules of "international dating rules" and "what happens on tour stays on tour" doesn't happen due to the cockroach spying devices. Plus stuff always gets posted on faceyb.

- Lucky lucky men aren't actually lucky. If they were lucky they would be selling you the real thing. They're actually unlucky men but take offence to the phrase "unlucky" hence the silent "un".

- Ever wonder why alcohol is so cheap abroad- its really paint stripper. Think about how cheap turps is in this country and put two and two together.

- Airline food is designed to keep you alive until you reach your destination, it is NOT meant to be tasty, nutritious, easily digestible or even recognisable.

- When flying a 'No-Frills airline' please remember - the staff are not paid to give a flying f**k.

- The reason why the door to the cockpit is always locked is due to the fact that the pilots hate people and don't want to associate with them.

- Another reason why the cockpit door is always locked is actually because they're having great parties in there, with all the best food, champagne, and strippers - and they don't want you to know it.

- They will pull the curtain that seperates cattle class from the rest of the plane back during landing just to tantalise you with how well rested everyone else looks after a 12 hour red-eye flight.

- Hotel star ratings are actually based on celebs who have stopped there. The higher the star the more celebs have stopped there.

- No foreigner can walk on hot sand without looking like a fool. You can judge how long people have been on holiday by how fast they are walking and how pink they are:

Walking fast + white skin = first day
Walking fast + pink skin = first week
Walking slow + pink/brown skin = second week
Walking slow + brown skin = third week

- Regardless of where you are  in the world you will never ever be able to escape Sky Sports- there will be numerous bars playing it 24/7.

- Sunbed wars is recognised as a international sport.. people will resort to dirty tactics to remove towels etc just to find the best spot in the shade like a preditor. If you listen very carefully when your by the pool you can hear David Attenborough commentating on it.

So remember if you follow these tips, your sure to have a fab summer holiday!!!

This weather better hurry up and sort itself before Saturday for Holly's wedding cause it better be sunny for her. Looking forward to watching my beloved Strokes on BBC3 on Sunday night- need to stop in this weekend (well Sunday) and start saving money for my jolly holiday in October.

Bucks Fizz

So today's post is a review of Superdrug's Nail Whitening Tablets which I mentioned in my beauty haul post on Monday. I've seen quite a lot of reviews of these on the net, and I thought I would give it a try. Now since my false nails have been off, my nails have actually been in quite good condition, however due to the dreaded fake tan (even though I only put it on when I'm wearing nail polish) and on occasions "forgetting" aka couldn't be bothered to put a base coat on my nails before going out on a Saturday night. The other week while in Superdrug I thought I would pick a packet up to try.
So for £2.99 you get a pack of 6 tablets which I don't think is bad value. The packet states that you should use one-two tablets per hand, however I used two tablets and just dunked my hands in the bowl for 15 minutes. The package warns that your nails and skin may be dry afterwards and to use handcream. Mine weren't however I used handcream to be on the safe side.

So this is what my nails looked like before- with no traces of nail polish. As you can see there is discolouration towards the tip of my nails. I also have deposits of Opi Lincoln Park After Dark on my ring finger, which will not budge.

Ready for the dunk

And these are my nails afterwards- any difference?? Nope nothing at all. In all honestly I think these tablets are a waste of money. It actually looks like I'm using the same pictures as my before, but I can assure you its two seperate lots of pictures.
Would I recommend them? Nope use the £2.99 to buy yourself a Barry M nail polish instead.

Have you used these tablets before? How do you get rid of discoloured nails?

Chicken Cup-a-Soup

Quick outfit of the day photo for you- taken the other weekend when I went to see Harry Potter with Steph. I don't really want to think about Harry Potter as I was an emotional wreck by the end of it. I've had the kimono jacket for ages- it was one of the first items I bought from the massive Topshop (aka my second home) in Newcastle.

Oh I'm joining the gym tonight, I've got my induction at 4, 8 weeks for me to get a bikini body. I definately need to tone up asap however I don't want to loose loads of weight as I still want my lovely going out clothes (and the two All Saints skirts) to fit. Oh and I don't want to loose weight off my chest lol.

Title of the post is what I'm currently eating/drinking for lunch..

Kimono Jacket- Topshop
Cashmire Vest- Topshop Boutique
Jeans- Primark (the best skinny jeans ever)
Flip Flops- Next
Ray Ban Wayfarers

I'm Haulin Baby....

Oh yes, I have a beauty haul for you. I think this month for the first time in ages I've actually gone a bit ott with my make up purchases, however I have two excuses- Holly's wedding (roll on Saturday) and Tenerife in October. So what have I been spending my pennies on this month..

Superdrug Nail Whitening Tables £2.99- my nails are horrible at the moment, from fake tan, and forgetting to wear base coat. I have a review on this to come in the next few weeks, so all what I will say on this is don't waste your money.
Barry M Lipstick in 147- aka the Mac Ever Hip dupe. This is my first ever BM lipstick and in all fairness I'm finding this quite drying on my lips compared to my Mac lippies. Originally bought this for my holidays as I'm not taking my Mac babies with me. This does look fab with a tan though, kinda more of a pigmented Mac Cut a Caper.
OPI Steady as She Rose- from the Pirates of the Carribean Collection. I bought this from ebay (beautyzone2007) and it cost approx £5 (including p+p from America), delivery is super quick too. It look a week to come. This is the colour I'll be wearing on my nails for the wedding on Saturday (Holly has approved it) so expect a NOTD on it soon.
OPI Over the Taupe- Again bought from ebay, I wore this for the hen do pt 2 the other week, and its worth noting you need two coats for this. The polish was quite watery if that makes sense. However I do love it, and I have a NOTD ready to post this week on this.
Sleek Pout Polish in Milkshake- again I've bought this ready for my holidays, really like how its not too pink on your lips. Definately going to buy Minx (?) next month. Haven't really had much time to play around with this, however I am very impressed.

Then we go onto the Mac goodies... I got my make up done for the hen do, and I asked for some products to be used to recreate a smokey eye with a pink lip. So what did I end up getting...

Studio Fix in NC35- now I was after a new foundation ready for the wedding and I was matched to NC even though I thought I was a NW. This colour equates to 2 coats of St Tropez. The MUA applied this with a stippling brush (as I call them) and I thought it looked too caked on. However when I got home I took this off and applied with my usual foundation brush, and I'm very happy with the coverage/colour. However I am a bit shocked with how orange/dark it looks (see swatch below)
Mineralize Eyeshadow in Rare Find- I am in love with this eyeshadow. I never even both looking at the mineralize eyeshadows when I go to the Mac counter, its up there with Typographic as my favourite eyeshadow.
Eye Shadow in Copperplate- I asked the MUA if she could use Typographic on my eyes, and along with Rare Find, she used this. She put Typographic on the brush, tapped into Copperplate and seriously it looks gorgeous!! Fab addition to my eyeshadow pallete. I'm hoping I can recreate this smoky eye next time I'm out.
Paintpot in Painterly- This along with my foundation were the real reasons I went to get my make up done. I could be here all day gushing about it but I have stuff to do. Its just love- if you don't have this in your primer collection, run out and buy it now.

Some cheeky swatches for you...
Barry M 147, Sleek Pout Paint in Milkshake, Mac Paintpot in Painterly, Mac Eyeshadow in Copperplate, Mac Mineralize eyeshadow in Rare Find, Mac Stuid Fix Foundation in NC35.

All what I need now is a couple of ELF make up brushes, Head over Heels or Flush Cream Blush from Topshop, and the other Sleek Pout Polish and thats me done... not including the Models Own 50% off sale lol.

Birthday Vintage Dresses Giveaway

Arghh I got too excited by this giveaway and couldn't wait until tomorrow to post it, so here it is now. Like I mentioned yesterday me and the JEMspenk decided that instead of doing a beauty giveaway like we normally do, we thought we would give away some one of a kind clothing. After all "Who is She" is foremost a fashion blog.

So the other week while shopping in Middlesbrough (tip- the Topshop there is fab for finding stuff), I called into my favourite vintage store Deep Clothing and picked up these little gems. If you remember my holiday outfits I had a blue dress from there in the same style, I've also got an animal print one which was hiding in my suitcase which will be coming out to play when I go away in October.

As I couldn't decide which dress I would get, I decided on the following two- so there will be TWO winners...

The prize is something which both me and JEM would wear. Now both dresses are classed as One Size. I can fit into them, and JEM and her massive baby boobage can fit into them, I'm going to say the dresses will fit a size 8-14 possibly a small 16. Both dresses are elasticated at the top and waist.

So how can you win one of these..

Rules.
You must be a follower of the blog (we will be checking).
Write an "enter me" comment below, leaving your name, email address and which dress out of the two you prefer.
For an additional entry, place the picture below in the side bar of your blog.
Closing date will be midnight on the 24th September.

The Beat Goes On....

You do the math..

Nature + Fragrance + High Quality Perfomance = Tommyguns hair products.

Tommyguns haircare products are quite new to the market, and have already recieved critcal acclaim from the Beauty Industry. I was lucky enough to review a selection of their products to review- you may have seen their intensive conditioner for coloured hair which I have mentioned many times on here (review still to come I know). However todays review is on their Pomegranate and Orange Flower Shampoo and theie Pomegranate, Orange Flower and Hemp Conditioner- these products are aimed for all hair types and can be used daily.

The packaging itself is very minimalistic, and actually look like expensive body lotions instead of shampoo/conditioner. All the products in this range are in similiar shaped/sized bottles so would look fab in your bathroom. If you read how I keep my red hair red post here you will know I prefer to use shampoo/conditioners especially for coloured hair, however I have at times been using this instead of the John Freida shampoo mainly towards the time when I'm due to get my colour done. What I like about this product is how a little goes a very long way and how soft my hair is after using it.

I think the reason why I've had such fab results with this product is due to the fact that I use it sparingly- is it an old wives tale that if you chop and change your haircare products its better for your hair?? Anyway to test this I had passed this over to JEM to try constantly for a couple of weeks to see how this affected her hair (hers is uncoloured), and I can report that JEM really rates the product. She did comment that a couple of times her hair has become greasy quickly- however she blames having to run around after her new born and her husband and the warm weather we've been having, not the shampoo.

The shampoo and conditioner both retail for £5.50 each which for the amount of product you use is excellent value.

Tommyguns haircare products are avaliable online here (check out their bundles).
John Lewis also stock this.

*Item provided for review, all opinions are both mine and JEM's, and as always are 110% honest*

How I keep my red hair RED

I know this is a VERY overdue post, however this morning I've finally gotten my backside into gear and get this post sorted. So my hair I think has nearly been every shade under the sun (just about), I've been dark brown, light brown, blonde, red/brown, and now I think I have finally come to a hair colour which I am in love with- my red hair. As you all know red hair is a pain to keep the colour in, however if you ever meet Stephy I think she is the only person in the world who's red hair is the same colour when she dyes it and it lasts until she gets it done (and she doesn't use any products on it). I only get my hair dyed every 5-7 weeks depending on if I'm going out etc, I've managed to time my colourings ready for Holly's wedding in a couple of weeks and then, until I go away on holiday.

So these are the products which I swear by in keeping the colour in-
Now this is going to sound a bit rank, however it works for me and before people start going ewwwwwwww what a skank, I only wash my hair twice a week, and use batiste on it everyday. The less you wash your hair the less colour will come out. So how I am going to do this post, is how I would do my hair mid week (as normal) and then Saturday if I was going out or stopping in. Hopefully it will make some sense to you all.

Midweek.
John Frieda Radiant Red Shampoo/Conditioner- Believe it or not, I actually HATE this shampoo/conditioner and the reason why I use it is purely due to the fact that there is hardly no shampoo/conditioners specifically for red hair on the high street. The shampoo hardly lathers, and you have to use the teeniest amount of conditioner other wise your hair will look a greasy mess. If anyone has any suggestions of red shampoo/conditioners let me know.
Trevor Sorbe Heat Defence Blow Dry Spray- Even if I leave my hair to dry natually (very rarely) I always use this, and obviously use when I'm blow drying my hair. Normally this can be found in Boots on offer, and the bottle lasts for ages- I've been using this since the beginning of the year.
Tommyguns deep conditioner for coloured hair- I originally recieved this to review (still need to write it up- bad blogger I know) and this is my second tub (bought myself), you may have seen this mentioned in a monthly favourites- think it may have been June (??). I only use this once a fortnight starting from the week after I get my colour done. This has really improved the condition of my hair. I used to use Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer, however this is a cheaper alternative and works just as well.

Saturday wash- if I'm stopping in at the weekend.
Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo and Conditioner- I can't tell you all how much I love this shampoo and coniditioner. I could be here all day/night. I know this is a favourite amongst you all, and I'd be lost without it. This kept my hair decent while I was in Tenerife.
Trevor Sorbe Heat Defence Blow Dry Spray- you get the jist.

If I'm painting the town red on Saturday night (no pun intended).
Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo (note just the shampoo)- makes my hair silky soft and shiny.
Revlon Nutri Color Creme (mahogany)- Now if you have red hair (or actually any coloured hair- they tailor for all colours), this is a little saviour in a bottle. This conditioning treatment actually puts colour back into your hair. I only start using this at least after two weeks after my colour has been done, about 5 pumps covers my entire head (and my hair is long) and leave for only 3 minutes, rinse off- HELLO REDDER SHINY HAIR. I never use this if I'm not going out, and my hairdresser has noticed how much it keeps the colour in. The advantages of this being that when colouring my hair instead of colouring my roots, and then the rest of my hair (taking at least 90 mins) I can be in and out of the hair dressers in less than that. The website I got mine from (I think this is the cheapest) is from here. Also you do need to wear rubber gloves when doing this as the colour stains your hands.
Label M Blow Out Spray- This product is a heat protector and it adds volume to your hair. I normally spray my roots and then the ends of my hair with this. I try not to use too much of it as sometimes it goes a bit sticky once your hair is dry. I think I paid about £10.50 for this from Toni and Guy, however I've had it nearly a year and only used about half a tin. This only gets used on "special" occasions.

As you all know I love my hair extensions and I normally get those coloured once every 4-5 months just so I know its an exact match for my hair. I know some people have asked what colour my hair is, and as I go to my cousins all what I can tell you is that its two thirds red, mixed with a third reddy brown- its basically a bright mahogany (if that makes sense). The only other tip I can give to you is use batiste as often as you can to keep grease away and try not to touch/play with your hair as this can make your hair greasy. Normally for work I have my hair up in a top knot or a ponytail.

Oh and on a parting note- your bath will look like a scene from a bloody movie after every wash.

Demi Lovato- American Elle

I found these images at the weekend, and I thought I would share. How stunning does Demi look?? I'm glad to see that she has worked her way through her troubles, and has come out of the other side. She's definately made the transition from Disney star to an A-List star. Going to see if I can get my hands on a copy of American Elle as I really want to read the interview which goes with this.

I really want a pair of these cats eyes sunglasses!!
STUNNING

To everyone in London- keep safe xx

Bambino JEM- the blogger

"My name is BabyJEM and I am an aspiring fashion blogger/fashionista"

Yes your eyes aren't deciving you- JEM is alive.
I have THE BEST present for BJ this week- will post pictures later on in the week.

Red and Yellow and Pink and Green...

Orange and purple and blueeeeeeeeeeee

Seriously I amuse myself at times- this is what lack of sleep and a 5am wakeup call from someone's house alarm. If you saw my tweet last night, I have found my red jeans (wooohooo) and a ton of more clothes to sell on ebay (woooooo) in my suitcase in the attic. My skinny jeans were only £12 from Asda years and years ago (I'm hoping I can still fit into them), and from that I thought I would see what the high street has to offer. Now I'm quite suprised that I haven't seen any coloured jeans in my local Primark stores, as they're always the first to jump onto a trend, however as I haven't been to any stores in a few weeks they may have some in.

However doing a quick browse on the internet, I am very suprised to find that all the high street stores have jumped onto this trend. Here are my favourite picks.

Muted jeans.

Light Pink Super Skinny, £40 River Island, Brown Skinny Jeans, £25.99 Newlook, Moto Peach Baxter Jeans, £40 Topshop, Light Yellow Skinny Jeans, £40 River Island.

Bright jeans- sure fire way to grab attention.

Turquoise Super Skinny Jeans, £40 Miss Selfridge, Moto Cerise Jeans, £40 Topshop, Green Skinny Cropped Jeans, £38 River Island, Fluro Pink Skinny Jean, £25.99 New Look.

My favourite picks for coloured jeans if you have the cash to splash is Asos. I find that (apart from my primark jeans) this jeans are a fab fit, and last ages- I still wear an indigo pair from 3 years ago and the colour hasn't faded.

Purple, Mustard and Rose Skinny Jeans, all £35.

A fab way to wear coloured jeans is adding a plain white or black tee or vest. However if you are feeling brave why not pair them with a coloured jumper?? Also you're nailing the colour blocking trend two- killing two birds with one stone (I don't condem throwing stones at birds).

Green Swing Jumper, £35 River Island, Hot Pink Tweedy Cable Jumper, £40 Topshop, Light Blue Cable Knit Jumper, £44 Topshop, Orange Twist Jumper, £35 River Island.

Howver if you don't want to splash the cash on a bright coloured jumper which you may only wear once or twice, Primark have some fab coloured jumpers in- look in the workwear section (cheeky tip for you there).

Are you loving the coloured jean trend??

Badda Bing, Badda Boom

Hurrah its Friday- so glad its nearly the weekend. My weekend is going to be spent, sorting out all my make up items and cleaning up all my nail polishes (ie getting rid of all the dried crap around it)- sad I  know, but I'm actually looking forward to it. I also have 20 episodes of Cougar Town on my Sky+ to watch too. Woohooo.

Anyway, since the weather up in the North East has kinda been glorious, I thought another Summery nail shade was in order. I first bought this when it was released and all the bloggers had been going crazy over this, however as I had la nail extensions on, it looked wrong. Tbh I'm back in that buying nail polish again craze, which I need to snap out of as I'm supposed to be watching the money this month. That will be stopping from right this minute. So this colour has been overlooked on many occasion. Until now..

Barry M Blue Moon.

Left- natural light, Right- with flash.

Ahem- ignore the state of my cuticals, that will be getting sorted out at the weekend. So blue moon, bluey moonie... hmmm I don't really like you that much. You don't make me feel summery due to your crappy application.
Now you all know my pet hate about nail polish (see post here), and I think this polish has to be the worst offender of the lot- look at the state of my index and middle fingers. They're practically see through, and this is with two coats. I've done a third coat on my little finger and as you can see its still see through, however I could live with this. I'm not going to totally dismiss the polish as an epic fail, I'll try it again with three coats and see how I feel. If I'm still not convinced, I'll palm it off to JEM.

What are your thoughts??

I've now got this stuck in my head
Pennnnnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Cannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Little Bad Girl

I am the biggest whimp known to mankind.

I can't deal with pain.

I am prone to passing out.

So I went and got this done today..

I don't have a hairy ear by the way.

I love it!! Didn't hurt, except when they put the bar through.

Couldn't get a tattoo as I'm too much of a whimp. Might get my other side done, when Michelle goes and gets hers pierced (think she wants it doing now).

xxx

Pretty Please

I bet you are all sick and tired of seeing these on peoples blogs, however its time for me and JEM to jump on the bandwagon. As you all know the Cosmo Blog Awards are coming up and it would mean a lot to both me and JEMspenk if you could vote for us under "New Fashion Blog".

I'll give you access to my wardrobes and my Chanel bags, and JEM will be your personal tea lady as a thank you for doing this.

Thank you!!

High Maintance and an Anger Management Problem...

Haha title of the post- long story, however I doubt these words will ever be muttered again as JEM would probably get sent down for murder. So anyway, Saturday night- far too hot, hair went rank, I don't look too amused. However it was a fab night, sometimes you have the best nights out ever standing in the smoking area chatting on to randoms. However kids getting off with your male mates = trouble, don't do it. Also have you noticed that when you have nothing to wear for a night out, a last minute search paired with free next day delivery on Asos you actually find a perfect little number.

My face looks like a slapped backside on this photo, I blame one too many Midori Sours from my favourite new bar Whisky River.

Asos Sleeveless Shift Scalloped Hem Dress (link)

Ps- I don't have an anger management problem or is high maintance. Its a private joke
