Blog Stalker #9

A day later than usual, due to the Royal Wedding and my guest post on Julia's blog. Not going to mention the wedding on here as everyone has been tweeting/blogging about it- but long live McQueen. So what blogs have I been loving this week...

I've followed Emma's blog since she first created it, and watched it grow and grow. Love how even though she says her blog is a beauty blog, she does fashion and personal life posts, which I love. Emma is an absolute doll- go get following her.

Jessica is one gorgeous fellow North East blogger. As the name of her blog suggests her blog is beauty based. Really love reading her reviews as you know with Jessica they're going to be 110% brutal and honest. She's always there for you on Twitter if you need to talk- an absolute star!! Follow!!

Kirsty Louise is my homegirl!! One of the most nicest people I have ever met (via Twitter), glad she's back in the blogging scene again after her little break. Really enjoying her YT videos. Love how her blog has the right mix of everything- fashion, beauty, misc. Love love love this girly!!!

Sorry its a bit shorter than usual today peeps, but I thought I would be sort and sweet and get to the point. Hope your all having a fab bank holiday weekend!! xx

Don't forget the Mac giveaway closes tonight at Midnight- check out the post below.

Models Own Raspberry Crush

This has to be one of my all time favourite nail polishes from Models Own along with Nude Beige, its one of the colours I seem to continiously come back too time and time again. It looks fab on your fingernails and your toe nails.. let me intoduce to you all..(drumroll)...

Raspberry Crush.

This colour is a more pinker (raspberry- stating the obvioius aren't I) take on the classic postbox red, and for me is far more wearable than bright red. These pictures were taken before my holiday so my nails are quite long, however you can see how vivid the colour is.

I normally take this colour with me when Jill does my infils, and one coat can last up to 10 days without showing any signs of wear at the top of my nails. Give it two coats (like in the picture above) and it lasts two weeks plus. If I wear this on my toes (I'm not going to gross you out with pictures) this can last up to a month, which I think is really good going.

Like all Models Own polishes Raspberry Crush dries super fast and provides a real glossy finish- I don't bother with a topcoat, and unlike other red polishes doesn't stain your natural nail. Definately a polish I highly recommend for work and for play.

Have you tried Raspberry Crush yet?? xx

Roll on tomorrow

Even though when you read this I should be out shopping with Holly for bridesmaid shoes, but tomorrow is my favourite day of the month- PAYDAY!!!

As I need to start putting money towards Holly's hen do, I am having to cut my spending right down this month. These are the very few items which have caught my eye (I've been avoiding online shopping like the plague).

Topshop and Primark's finest.

Watch me have spent a fortune shopping today...

Looks can be decieving...

You wanted to see more hauls- so what you want, you get.

Recently I've been quite good on the old make up front and only bought two mascaras (17 wild curls went really clumpy). However since coming back from my holiday and being a bridesmaid for Holly in the Summer I thought it would be best to get matched for their liquid foundation and I had some empties for a back to mac. Then there was the free haute and naughty mascara with any purchase from the website. I am terrible I know.

What did I end up getting-
Haute and Naughty Mascara (free with eyeshadow)
MSFN Mediun Deep (£18 approx)
Lovelorn lipstick- lustre (free back to mac)
All That Glitters eyeshadow (£11.50 approx)
Two samples of studio fix foundation NW25 (free)
(note- the Mac site is currently down and I can't get the exact prices)

So realistically I didn't spend that much lol.

Previously I had been matched as a NW20 in their foundation/concealer however after fake tanning this colour was far too light for my skin. Luckily the day I got matched, my tan had faded to the colour I normally am after tanning. The woman on the counter was lovely and after explaining that my tan was natural and I wanted to try it after fake tanning the lady gave me two samples of NW25 Studio Fix Foundation.

I am in love with this product- not too heavy on the skin, and produces a flawless finish. Also in photographs when the flash goes off this doesn't  wash me out. I'm hoping I have the same finish once I try this after I've faked tanned. One good thing about the samples is that a little goes a long way- I've used this 3 times for a full face coverage and there is still loads left in the pot. I also bought a MSFN in Medium Deep to compliment the foundation- you know how much I love my MSFN so I won't bore you again.

Loving Lovelorn lippy- mac colours such as Viva Glam Gaga and St Germain don't suit me at all, far too bright and makes my lips look tiny. Hence always sticking to nudes/light pinks. I was initally going to get Costa Chic with my empties, however the day before I'd seen this on someone's blog (sorry I can't remember who it was) and after swatching the two, this was the most wearable for me. I wore this on the night out in my last OOTD post (with the floral dress)- definately starting to become more braver with the lipstick choices.

Haute and Naughty Mascara- I've only had chance to use this once, and at the moment I'm not too convinced on it. However I'm not that keen on Mac mascaras in general, but as this was free who I am to complain. I do like the fact that when you use the pink part of the brush- it takes that much mascara off the brush, its easier to apply it (without clumping) on your lower lash line. I'm going to try this properly when I'm out later on in the week.

Swatches.

So glad I finally bought All that Glitters eyeshadow- being wearing it with Woodwinked and a tiny bit of Satin Taupe and Typographic on a night out, and then by itself during the day. Initally I bought this to depot and put in my palette however I've decided to keep it in the pot for touch ups on nights out.

I'm off to the Metro Centre on Wednesday with Holly to see if we can find some bridesmaid shoes. So no doubt I'll be stopping off at the mac counter- I'm after a darker colour to compliment all that glitters and woodwinked for a smokey eye on a night out, some sort of dark brown?? Any suggestions ladies?? xx

Blog Stalker #8

What is happening its Blog Stalker on a Thursday instead of a Friday!! This is confusing me today.. pesky bank holidays (not complaining though).

I have a special Easter-related post lined up for you tomorrow, so Blog Stalker is a day earlier. Oh and if you were wondering why I was asking what dress you prefered yesterday, you have chosen what dress I'm wearing when I go out tonight (you all chose the floral number).

So what blogs am I loving this week...

I really love Gem's blog- her blog stands out from many of the other blogs which I follow, purely due to her writing style. Her posts always hit home, they're 110% honest, frank and most importantly from the heart. Its refreshing to see a blogger who is so open and honest with her thoughts and feelings. Another thing about Gem is that she is a fabulous talented photographer- you can see that from her weekly "this is your life" posts. Really enjoy reading her blog and the fact that she is one of the most down to earth, sweetest girls and that she will do anything for anyone. Definately worth following if your not already.

I think the title of Sarah's blog gives away what her major obsession is... have you guessed it yet... DRESSES!! Oh and not forgetting Models Own Polishes (her collection is starting to rival JEMs). Judging by the number of dresses Sarah posts on her blog, I'm sure she must have a wardrobe dedicated to all of her dresses, and if that is the case I am totally jealous!! Really enjoy seeing what dresses Sarah will be wearing next, some of the dresses she's got have influenced my dress purchases. Fab blog- get following peeps.

Tor is one of my fellow North East bloggers, was gutted she was unable to make the NE Blogger meet up in Feb, however hopefully we can get something organised soon. Love Tor's OOTD posts, really like how she puts outfits together. Also she's starting to do "week in pictures" posts, which feature pictures of her really cute daughter Elodie. Another aspect of Tor's blog which I love is how she updates us all with the latest clothes releases from New Look, and her take on the fashion from Awards Ceremonies. Definately one to follow.

Well thats me finished work now until 3rd May- woop xx

I'm the Scatman..

Do you remember that banging tune of the 90s?? haha.

Now I've got it in my head- great...

So today I had a post planned, then decided I didn't want to write it up and then I decided to do the post which I been talking to Stephy about this afternoon- but instead you get this random splat of words from my brain.
I'm blaming excel spreadsheets for why I am scatty today.

These are my current thoughts...

- Do I eat the other creme egg on my desk or save it for tomorrow?

- Do I fake tan even though I still have some of my holiday tan left?

-Do I actually like Barry M Peach Melba on my nails because a) it looks horrid, or b) am I only thinking this cause I NEVER wear pastels on my nails.

-Do I send my new leopard print court shoes back as they're 5.5" and they don't have a strap on.

or

- If I keep my shoes will I end up falling over in them and breaking my ankle.

- Pick a dress... ask no questions...

- if you saw these two dresses and you had to choose.. pick one..

I really can't get that bloody song out my head now!!

NOTD- Models Own Fuzzy Peach

This NOTD was actually pre-holiday, however I thought that as I'm getting my infills tonight after work, I would finally get this post wrote up. As you probably already have gathered that from both mine and JEM's 1001 posts- we love Models Own polishes. Ironically this polish was originally JEMs which I swapped her for my Purple Grey as we both hated our original polishes- thats what we always do when we buy MO (bar Nude Beige) we always buy what the other doesn't so jointly our collection is HUGE.

Anyway I'm doing my normal party trick of going off on one- back to the point of the post. I used to love this polish on my au naturel nails, however while trying to get into the holiday spirit I thought I would try this polish out on the extensions.

Massive Mistake!!!

Look how horrible this has turned out!! Yes I needed my infills doing, however this polish was a MAJOR let down.

You can see more on the photo on the right- but there is what appears to be "dirt" patches from what would see if there was patches of dark polish underneath. However the funny thing was I had nothing on my extensions- all traces of nail polish were removed.

People from work had commented on how summery and nice the colour was when they saw my nails from a distance, however they all agreed that when you saw the nails up close they didn't look very nice at all. I'm debating whether to try this polish again on my nails tonight after they've been infilled to see if there is any difference.

This has no way deterred me from my love affair with Models Own, and I have the new Barry M Peach Melba to try out- loving Peach shades at the moment.

Everytime I think of fuzzy peach I think of these bad boys..
mmmmmm

Don't forget to enter the Mac giveaway- link is in the side bar.

Walk this way...

I know I have jumped on the Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots bandwagon about these about 20 years later than everyone else however, after seeing them on a few blogs/sites (namily lookbook), I really really want a pair.

image via google

I'm want either the first pair or the brown pair on the second lines. However considering I'm already 5ft10 do I really need a pair of shoes which claim to be 5" high (yes I know I wear 5" heels normally for a night out), yet actually look way higher.

I was going to elaborate on the above some more however I'm half asleep and I can't remember what I was going to say. Think my brain is getting ready for Easter holidays and 10 glorious days off work- roll on 11.30am Thursday.

Two random things-
I've found grey things in my cous cous salad which look like slugs- I feel physically sick.
Did you know Justin Bieber songs have hidden messages?

Oh the JC boots are £120 from Office (however they're sold out).

Blog Stalker #7

Ooo tonight is a staff night out, so this post is pre-planned as I will be sat in the hairdressers getting my colour and a well deserved cut as this is being posted. Funny old week this week- starting to look forward to next Thurs and the start of the Easter break (aka party party party). As its Friday, you know what is coming, however first I just want to let people know that I do read all your comments and I do read everyone's blogs- its just that I'm on a computer all day at work and the last thing I want to do when I get home is go back on a computer. I am going to be a better blogger and start commenting so please don't think I'm ignorant.

I am jealous of Carlinn's wardrobe- you may know her from her blog Superficial Girls or from her accessory company Gift Girls. I love how she puts her outfits together, and also how she has accompanying you tube videos which she talks about her outfits. Also like all of us, even though she lives in Malta- she has an obsession with UK high street stores (notabily Primark).Really enjoy reading her blog and its definately one to check out.

Becca was one of the first people to ever comment on one of my blog posts, bless her. Currently I am LOVING her "how to wear" posts where she takes an item (eg a pair of brouges) and then styles them!! I definately think Becca is going to be a successful stylist!! If you aren't following get following!!

Cem's blog I have been following for a few months, after randomly stumbeling upon it. Love how her blog covers everything- bit of beauty, fashion, her home life, and random stuff. Also check out her posts on her Uni designs- this girl is incredibly talented!! Really enjoy reading her blog and its definately one you should follow.

Thats my picks for this week- hope you enjoy xxx

Oh and HELLO MAGPIE (you know who you are haha)

How often is too often?? Mac Fashion Flower Collection

Now I know I love Mac as much as the next person, but I must say I am starting to get a bit sick with how eager Mac is in trying to get us to part with our hard earned cash. Considering its mid-April, there has been numerous collections realised to date so far this year- WW, Peacocky, Quite Cute, and does Tartin Tale count too? Then don't forget the new forumla of lippies and colour bases, and then the collaborations. Really is there any need in yet another "limited" collection ready to be released??

Cue the Fashion Flower Collection (release date May 2011)...

Now I have to admit that I always see a 1001 things from upcoming collections which I want- however I only own a lippy and two pigments from previous collections. For some reason I never really get around to buying them.I don't think its fair on us how they repackage items and brand them as limited edition for them to re-release so many months down the line (however if its your HG item- then I think its a good thing- think i've just contradicted myself there).

Wouldn't it not be more common sense for Mac to do say 4 collections a year?? Then incorporate the best sellers into their permanent lines. I think the reason for writing this post, is to get your opinions on this, I feel like other "high end" brands don't have half as many collections as Mac.

However here's some sneak peeks from the Fashion Flower Collection- I'm really not keen on this collection (I only really like the pink lippy but it reminds me of Angel or Plink- which I already have).

All images are taken from All Glam's blog.
Summer Shower Light aqua (Glaze), Mlle Light white pink (Glaze)(Repromote) not shown, Ever Hip Bright creamy coral (Cremesheen) (Repromote Liberty of London), Growing Trend Mid-tone taupe nude (Amplified Creme). Does Growing Trend remind you of Viva Glam Gaga 2 or Creme d'Nude??

Lucky Green Frosted mid-tone lime (Veluxe Pearl) (Permanent), Fresh Daisy Frosted mid-tone yellow white (Frost) (Limited Edition), Bows & Curtseys Metallic hunter green (Satin) (Limited Edition), Aqua Aqua blue (Matte) (Permanent), Free to Be Bright true coral (Matte) (Permanent), Groundcover Mid-tone warm grey (Matte) (Limited Edition).

What do you think of this collection?? Is there really any need in yet another Mac collection so soon after Quite Cute?? Do you think Mac is taking advantage of the consumer??

Is there a Topshop AA...

Hello my name is Ray and I have a dangerous addiction to Topshop.

I am also scoffing office buffet on my lunch as I type this (its bloody lush).

I went through a phase of hating Topshop not so long ago as the store in Durham is VERY limited and what appears nice on the website in person isn't that nice. However since the massive store opened at Newcastle last year- its been a very dangerous love affair. The best thing about the Newcastle store is its now seen as one of their major flagship stores, so whatever you see on the site 9/10 it will be in the Newcastle store.

To an extent I do think Topshop is over priced (especially their knitwear and jackets) however other items I think are quite reasonable and they're better quality. But for night out clothing- for me you'll only ever see me in Topshop (with the odd exception)- its at the stage now that if I'm out with my cousins (who all are like me) we have to bbm each other and find out what we are wearing so we don't turn up in the same clothes.

Anyway- tomorrow Topshop are releasing their "Dress up" range of statement dresses. As far as I'm aware the collection is of limited edition items which go by the motto "why dress down, when you can dress up". Key pieces from this collection include a pale pink tulle tutu, a black leather dress with gold studding and the all over rainbow sequin dress.

Snap, Crackle and Pop

Yes I have found my nail polish mojo again..

I'm loving Barry M Mushroom with their Nail Effects on top - quite a cute effect.  I still think these crackle-effect glazes are fantastic fun, and am now uber-excited as MO are making a full coloured range called 'Smash-Ups'.

Expect lots of excited posts and tweeting when I get my mitts on these beauties - quite co-incidentally, the launch of the range at the end of April has collided nicely with the start of my maternity leave (6 and a bit weeks left of work!!) so I imagine there will be a bored JEM blobbing about the place and eating chocolate and trying all 9 of these shades out.

And at £6 a go, I may have to collect them all (well except the Turquoise, as I know Ray wants this- I'll borrow hers).

Smash up polishes in black and silver will be avaliable in Boots from April 20th and all colours will be avaliable from the Models Own website from April.

Floral Bloom

So Saturday night I was able to finally be able to flash my holiday tan off, and I thought a new dress was in order (I haven't bought any clothes in March- bar 2 bikinis). I'd seen this dress on the Topshop website and loved it, however JEM and Stephy weren't too keen.

Cue a trip to the Metro Centre on Friday night with Madame Stephy to see if I could get that Zara dress I mentioned last week. In a nut shell the dress was really thick cotton and weighed a ton- very disappointed. On a tangent- I found another dress there, which I fell in love with and knew that that was the dress for Easter Sunday's drinking sesh (picture to come).

As it is my luck, it looked like there was a belt loop missing from the dress so I left it and thought I would order off the website. Guess what- the dress wasn't online- cue a lunchtime dash up to Zara to get the dress. Anyway, back to the point of the post...

I love florals- for some reason everytime I decide to wear a floral dress I always feel summery, and as glorious as the weather was on Saturday, the floral dress I think was a wise investment. So this is my outfit shot taken by the Iamvip photographer in Loveshack (aka the shack of love) on Saturday. I've cut my friend Kayleigh off the picture as she doesn't know about the blog and I don't think its fair in posting random pictures.
Dress- Topshop.
Studded Belt- Topshop.
Gold watch (not seen)- Asos.
Bag- Chanel XL Jumbo.
Shoes- Topshop Aggie Boots (aka my Tranny boots as I'm 6ft3 in them lol)

Quite chuffed that my hair is actually half decent, as normally by the time I am in Loveshack my hair is a mess. Rather impressed with my sample of Mac Studio Fix (NW25) is a perfect match for my skin as normally pictures my face looks too pale (even though I am tanned).

Wish I had sorted my dress out as it makes me look huge (its a size 8- yes me in a size 8, I'm in shock about that too).

Regardless it was a fab night!!! And that is me stopping with ootd pictures for the time being- don't really want my face plastered all over the blog all the time.

Tomorrow- JEMspenk is back....

Blog Stalker #6

I hate being tired- you know when you get to the stage that you have a splitting headache cause you're so tired- yup I'm at that point now. However a weekend of retail therapy and alcohol related behaviour is just what the doctor ordered.

So its that time of the week again- what blogs have I been stalking reading this week..

Hurrah Stacey is back blogging again!! Missed Stacey's posts when she has been awol, however glad she's back. Followed Stacey's blog for AGES now, and awww I just love her to bits- always there for you if you need someone to chat too. Love how she has a random mish mash of everything on her blog, and I love her YT videos even though (I think) she is not going to do them any more. Gutted she couldn't make the blogger meet up, however I may have to have a trip down to Manchester!!!

One thing I hate about my blogger is that for some reason, it likes to unfollow some of the blogs I follow- one of which was Katie's much to my annoyance. However this has been sorted, and I'm following again :) I would say Katie's blog is mainly beauty based with loads of fab reviews on her purchases, as well as loads of fab ootd from her nights out. She's a bit of a bad influence too as I was wanting costa chic lippy and after seeing it on her- she's definately persuded me to get it. Get following!!!

Does Kirsty really need an introduction?? Fashion Champagne was the first fashion blog which I had come accross due to a feature on the asos website, and from that moment I have been hooked with reading people's blogs. I want Kirsty's wardrobe.. which I'm convinced is like Narnia, and she's bloody stunning too!! Never tire of reading her posts- fab blog, and if you aren't following.. what is wrong with you!!!

Thoughts...

....on this dress please

Tulip Skirt Dress £49.99 Zara.

I HATE those shoes in the picture- I want to snip the straps off.

Do I buy it or not???

Barry M Pink Flamingo

Before Models Own came onto the scene and stole both mine and JEM's hearts- Barry M was my favourite nail polish brand. Since having my nail extensions on (they're still going strong from the beginning of December), I have only used Models Own or OPI on my nails.

Infills were done the week I went on holiday ready for going away as in the last month they had grown like wildfire, and when my nails are a certain length I hate wearing bright colours on it as I feel they make my man hands look massive. As my nails (and hair) grow like wildfire in the sun, Jill kindly cut my nails right down to what I think is the pefect length (ie I can get my contacts in/out without blinding myself).

As I needed to get some holiday nails- it was only apt I reached for this beauty- Barry M Flamingo Pink..

This always used to be my go to colour for a night out- pre nail extensions. Very impressed with the application of this on my extensions- and one coat is more than enough. Ignore the wear on the tip of my nails as these pictures were taken on the last day of the holiday.

Check out the regrowth. Love how glossy the nail polish is.

However.... Hawiian Tropic suntan lotion does not like nail polish.

It decided to melt the polish and it did the same to Jill's Opi and W7 polishes which she was wearing too (her nails are au naturel).

Whats your favourite holiday nail polish?? xx

March Favourites

So for the month of March- bar a night out at the start of the month, I haven't really been using many make up/products as I normally do. Therefore for this month I have decided to share my holiday must haves/favourites, some of which you have previously seen on here. Now I know I don't do FOTD posts, however when I share my OOTD posts, I will mention the products which I have used. Also I haven't had any make up on in over a week- what is happening to me??

I am also suffering from cottage cheese brain today- so I'm warning you in advance...

Benefit Coralista- now this didn't work on my cheeks for the first 3 days due to being burnt, however once my face settled down- this really complimented the tan. Think I may be reaching for this over my beloved Mac Melba blush for my upcoming nights out. I also had Mac Pinch o' Peach blush with me however with a tan/red cheeks you couldn't see it at all. Kinda wish I had brought Posey with me.
Mac Bronzer in Refined Golden- wore this every night, you know how much I love my bronzer- I think this needs to be relabled as a HG product for me.
2true liquid eyeliner- I really need to learn how to apply liquid eyeliner properly. After watching Julie's fab youtube tutorial on her college ball make up, I have been applying this with a Mac 219 (the really fine brush if that number is wrong) brush, and I think I may actually be getting the hint. Bought this on a whim in Superdrug and I am really impressed with the lasting power.
17 Wild Curls Mascara- now I initally loved this mascara the first few times I have used it, however since I've noticed its really clumpy on the brush. Bit of a pain to have to clean most of the product off the brush before putting it on, however I do like the effect it gives after about 5 coats. Just bought Maybelines the one mascara to try instead.

Mac Cut a Caper Lippy- I bought this off the lovely Ellie and this was the colour I'd been wearing most nights (when it wasn't living in the fridge as I was paranoid about it melting). However due to the hospital incident this was replaced from Thursday with the chapstick. Note- nude lippy (Gosh Darling) does not look good with a red face.
Dior Addict Ultragloss in 256- I've had this for ages and only really used it while I was away on the Monday night. Really like this lipgloss, and the colour is true to the bottle.

My Mac palette- my baby. I nearly kicked off in Newcastle Airport as when my bag was getting searched for the hidden explosives- the security guard swiped it and then threw it upside down on top of my bag. Oh the pain is coming back now- it was like someone had kicked me in the lady parts. Luckily nothing was damaged or there would have been hell to pay. I am going to do a post soon about my mac pallette and why it is arranged the way it is- in a nut shell (bar vanilla and arctic grey and soon to be all that glitters) if you look down each row it basically is a variation on a smokey eye. When I do my outfit posts I will mention what eyeshadows I have used (I have a weird memory for things like that).

Label M Sea Salt Spray- I hate using heat on my hair (bar a hairdryer) when I am away especially as my hair is coloured and I don't want to damamge it. So on a night after washing my hair, I would spray heat protector on, then some of this, tie it up in a top knot and either let it dry itself or blow dry it for curly hair. Also as I avoided the pool (mainly due to the typical british lads abroad idiots around it), my hair has come back in good condition for once.
Hawaiian Tropic Body Butter- you know the score with this, smells like holidays and it keeps your skin hydrated. Kept this in the fridge so it was uber cold.
Barry M Pink Flamingo- holiday notd to come on this. Moving on...
Kiehl's Face Cream- excellent to keep my face hydrated. Only used this Sunday-Wednesday night (all will be revelled later in the week), like the HT this was kept in the fridge. Came in handy for the holiday however I won't be repurchasing this.
Medicated Chapstick- one of my HG products, love love love. Shame it doesn't have spf in it though :(
Marc Jacobs Daisy- this is normally my "throw it in my work bag and forget about it" perfumes, however in a bid to start using my perfumes up, I took this away with me. Definately would recommend this as a holiday scent. This this bottle is never ending as it doesn't seem like it wants to go down.
