Post Holiday Blues...

Some random holiday snaps off my blackberry...

Attempting to "calm" my pre flying nerves with a drink or two.
Wotsits on steriods.
Crazy drunken German man who was singing and dancing around his poor wife while she was trying to sleep.
Fancy a trip to my colon??
Strawberry fanta- the drink of the gods.
Holiday nails (NOTD to come).
Blotchy sunburn on the first day.

Can I go back there now??

-why Ray and a bar crawl with free shots don't mix
-why Ray needs to get back on the diet asap
-why airport security love me
-why my backside resembles a dartboard with the amount of cortisone shots I had in hospital (it could only happen to me)

Normal posting will resume later on in the week.

Massive thank you to all last weeks guest bloggers, and a massive congrats to the fabulous Charlotte you deserve it chick!!!!

Paint on my nails...

Another post from one of Models Own's Christmas colours which ironically I recieved off the Husband for Christmas- Prussian Blue.

This really is more matt than I'm used to Models Own colours being, but it's an awesome effect.  I haven't got any topcoat on here so you can see how it looks like a semi-gloss paint (think of the stuff you'd use on doors, as opposed to the skirting boards haha) awesome effect and really nice, deep colour.

The only problem I had with this one was that the first bottle I ordered came without a brush!!  Emailed MO to request a replacement and was asked to send a photograph of the problem. which I did and got a new one in the post a couple of days later.  Was honestly shocked by the lack of quality control there. :)

Whats your thoughts on Models Own going matt??

Summer Trend Spotlight

Whilst Ray is tanning herself up on sunny beaches and sipping on Pina Coladas, you girls are unfortunately stuck with a post from me... Bonjour! My name's Alana, I have a little blog called xoxo AVS where I just babble on about the clothes I wear & buy, my stressful uni life and my cat, Max.

I decided to go with a summery theme inspired by Ray's jet setting ways, so here for you ladies is a first glimpse at 4 key trends and styles that I'm gonna be rocking this summer (in LA no less). When my next student loan instalment comes in the high street won't know what's hit it.

When I went shopping last week, in each shop I was surrounded by gorgeous floaty coral dresses, tapered coral trousers, perfectly tailored coral blazers and sexy coral heels. This colour is the staple for your wardrobe this summer; wear with any neutral colour and it looks great, add turquoise accessories and it looks divine.

A classic pattern that comes back around each year. Stripes are the epitome of Parisian chic and ever so versatile, wear with cream tapered trousers, hair in a top knot, oversized sunnies, and of course the Chanel-style quilted chain bag.

This look is one I’ve recently fallen in love with, I love how the leather jacket totally toughens up such a feminine skirt. As demonstrated by the ladies above, different patterned Maxi’s such as stripes + leopard print, teamed with a plain tee and the jacket creates a rock chic look that will make your friends green with envy.
The final trend I’m digging this summer is the oversized hat, last summer I had extremely short hair so hats didn’t suit me at all, this year I’ve got extensions and a fringe so I’m thinking the hat is going to be my big thing. These ladies below wear them with perfectly tousled hair and neutral colours.

Girls, I hope you've got some summer inspiration from this post, a variation of each of these items featured here are available from the usual suspect shops such as H&M, Topshop, New Look, ASOS & Miss Selfridge.

It was lovely to meet you! Hopefully see you again soon girlies!
XOXO AVS

Bubble Pop Electric

Hi,

So please bear with me as this is my first ever blog post, and I'm not sure what to write. So Ray aka my bestie has finally told me that she has a blog, I’ve decided to do a guest post for her while she has left me for a week in the sun. Now as she has kept this on the sly for so long, I know she has mentioned me before on the blog as the “bestie”, but now I can be set loose on here for some guest posts.

Now my twin brother is obsessed with Vivienne Westwood, and his obsession has rubbed off onto me. Ever since I have spied her Melissa shoes in VW store in Newcastle I have needed a pair of them in my life.

£110 Dollydagger.co.uk

These are the ones which I desperately need- come payday they will be mine. Whats not to love about them!! Plus they smell of bubblegum!! Like all Melissa shoes they are made from pvc with the adjustable strap on the back. Normally my shoes for a night out have massive heels however I think I can compromise by wearing these. Also I may have to borrow a certain someone's VW dress to wear with them...

Lush is my crush!!!

Hi, first of all I would like to say I am Charli and I write Secrets Behind The Closet Door. Its a beauty blog where I just ramble about my beauty obsessions and make up loves J Ray already mention me in her blog stalker so I won’t bore you with anymore details ;)

So everyone and anyone who knows me will know that I am obsessed by Lush, I actually have become so obsessed I’m thinking a career change could be in order for me just so I can spend the day there and get discount haha!
What I am currently crushing over from Lush is The Comforter

This gorgeous raspberry smelling bubble bar does what it says it does, it comforts!
It creates a bath full of warming bubbles and leaves you soft and scented, the water turns a lovely bright pink colour too. Even though Lush recommend that you can make 2 baths out of this I make at least 6 and as you can see from the picture below there are plenty of bubbles and a good colouring of the water from that, I think using half of this bad boy for one bath would just be far too much.

Look at all them glorious bubbles J
Thank you for reading my Lush ramble and thank you Ray for letting me come to invade you

Peek-a-boo...

Hello Lovelies,

Today I have the absolute pleasure of taking over “Who is She” Whilst Ray Suns herself in a foreign destination (I am not jealous at all. honest).

Some of you may already follow my blog but if not I will do a quick introduction to myself…. I am Charlotte and I write a blog called Charlottes Obsessions which primarily features lots of make up talk! Which is what I will be bringing you today.

I am an incredibly nosey person and love posts such as “what’s in my bag” and “what’s in my makeup bag”. Today I thought I would let you have a little look into my make up bag and the products I am currently enjoying using.

My Make up bag is just a cheapy from Primark but I think it is really pretty.

First up we have the face products. I am a foundation junkie and I am a great believer in creating a perfect base is key to any look.

I really like the Loreal Secrets Primer, it does a nice job of resurfacing my skin which leaves it ready for foundation.

I have had this Collection 2000 concealer for some time but never paid it much attention. I find it easy to blend and find it gives nice coverage and has great staying power. It certainly doesn’t crease either which is always a bonus, not sure you could ask for much more considering it only cost a few pounds.

As I previously mentioned I love foundation so I am always on the hunt for a new on, I picked this Origins Foundation up in my Local CCO (York) the other weekend and I have opted for it everyday. It gives a medium to full finish and has fantastic staying power even without a primer.

I always like to set my foundation with a powder and recently have been reaching for my Mac Prep and Prime Translucent finishing powder. I find the Mac Msf Natural can sometimes cake on me but this is perfect. When this is finished I think I will try the Rimmel one which is supposed to be a good dupe for the Mac One..It's all about saving the pennies right?

I am an absolute eyeliner and mascara freak! I obsess over it! I am always on the search for a new mascara that will give me lashes like the annoying "lash inserts" on the adverts. My latest addition is Benefit Bad Gal..simply amazing (I have a review here).
On my water line I have recently been reaching for the Avon super shock gel eye-liner which has great staying power and is very black. On the top I like to line my eyes with the Loreal Liner. I have recently made a rediscovery with this and I shall defiantly be buying more.

If you read my blog you may have seen the post where I raved about peach coloured products. I am still loving this trend and I am still in love with the blush pictured from Model's Own in Warm Glow. What I love the most about this besides the colour is that is gives a nice sheen to the face meaning you don't have to use a separate highlight product. I am also enjoying Nars Laguna to give my skin that sun kissed look!

I rotate my lipsticks every couple of days and I am currently Loving Mac Shy girl to fit in with my love for peachy colours. I usually opt for a pink but lately have been craving shy girl!

So there we have it, the products I am loving at the moment.

Massive Thank you to Ray for letting me invade her virtual space and please don't come back too tanned or I shall be very jealous!!!

Blog Stalker #4

I really must start to pack my suitcase, as usual I'm leaving everything to the last minute. 1001 things to do at work, and I'm absolutely shattered, but its that time of the week again... 3 fab blogs for you to follow this week...

Now for some reason on my work's computer Julie's blog header opens like this, but on the laptop its completely different. So where do I begin with what I love about Julie's blog- I think firstly the cross over which she has between her youtube channel and her blog. I love that on her haul videos she mentions all her new purchases and then on the blog she does fab indepth reviews on them. Love chatting with Julie on Twitter- she always have fab banter, and she's gorge too!!

Marilou.. ahhh I love reading her blog. I love how she loves all the same tv shows as me- I honestly thought I was the only one who loves Jerseylicious and TOWIE (new series on Sunday woop)- excellent tv choices even if I do say so myself. So as the name of her blog suggests Marilou has an obsession with nail polishes- love how she finds dupes of the nail polishes which celebs wear. Also like me she has an obsession with the one and only Lauren Conrad!! Love her fashion. Fab blog, go check it out now!!!

Jen's blog is a newly discovered read of mine, her current wishlist wednesday is going to be making me skint when I come back from my holidays as I am a sucker for stripes. I've really being enjoying reading her blog over the past week, really like her writing style and how indepth she goes with reviews. Plus she loves big hair and cupcakes- what more is there to love!! Definately worth checking out pronto!!!

Remember its Comic Relief today- Laura has had a fab idea for all us bloggers to join up together to help raise some money. Click on this link to pledge some money

Magical Shrinking Feet...

I think the one good thing about getting older is the fact that my feet are shrinking- does that sound random? Yes it does. So anyone who knows me will tell you that shoes are not my thing. I hate shoe shopping, I'd rather spend my money on clothes/handbags, or actually waste it on rubbish than buy a pair of shoes.

I think many of you will probably be having some sort of fit for me saying that I hate shoes, but I do have good reason...

Being 5'10" and a size 9 feet, shoe shopping was pure torture- no shops used to have decent shoes in such a bigger size. Next used to be the place to go for heels. My going out wardrobe used to consist of one pair of black courts which would go with everything. Any shoes which I would buy would be black. However within the last 3-4 years my feet have been shrinking- look in my wardrobe, there is size 7, 8 and 9 shoes. I like to think that my feet are shrinking but to be honest I think its just the size of the shoes being made a bit bigger.

Oh how I wish my feet were a size 6 and dinky, but I suppose that would have caused far more damage to my bank balance. Thing is primark heels I can be a 7-8, New Look I'm an 8, Topshop size 8 for court shoes is too tight, a size 9 there is a good half an inch of space at the back- I don't think I'll ever win.

Anyway totally drifting off the point of the post... one dress.. what shoes do you prefer..as I can't find the coral Peacocks shoes anywhere (update on this later)
Topshop Cream Floral Dress £46

Loretta Bow Sandles £70 Topshop, Wooden T Bar Sabdles £29.99 New Look, Asos Pump It Up Suede Platform Courts £55, Brown Loafer Heels £24.99 New Look.

Or my tranny shoe boots, as I like to call them??

Muchos Love xxx

Update on the Peacock shoes for anyone who was wanting them- just had an email from customer services and there is a problem with the shoe, hence a delay in delivery. They are unable to advise a specific date for when the shoes will be in stock.

Somethings are worth a second chance...

...scummy men not being one of them.

As you may remember not so long ago I bought and did a review on Xen Tan Luxe Lotion which you can find here which I think looking back must have been a dodgy bottle. Now the lovely Amy from Xen-Tan contacted me and asked if I would like to try their Xen-Tan dark lotion, as this should produce a deeper tan. She kindly also sent a little booklet on tanning and a mitt.

Xen-Tan says "Packed with rich moisturisers and premium ingredients, Dark Lotion glides onto skin and leaves it feeling nourished and silky smooth. Enriched with coconut and walnut oils, it helps you achieve a stunningly natural olive tan that's exceptionally longwearing. And to make sure you enjoy a beautifully balanced result, it doesn't gather at the ankles or elbows, and fades evenly".

Now I won't lie I was a bit apprehensive about trying this product, and I decided for a test run I would only try the product out on my legs, and then St Tropez my top half. I also made the conscious decision not to follow any of the recommended guidelines and apply it as if I were using my St Tropez- basically exfoliate the 2 nights before, and moisturise like a good un.

When applying this firstly I was majorly impressed with the smell- it smells like battenburg, completely different to the luxe tan (making me think it was an off bottle). Also unlike St Tropez I only needed 4 pumps worth of product to do each leg (and I'm 5'10")- a little goes a long way!! Excellent value for money. There is a guide colour when you put it on, its not as dark as the St Tropez which I am used too, however you can clearly see where the product is. One major advantage of this product is how quickly it soaks into your skin- I had my pj bottoms on 15 mins after applying it. Unlike other fake tans which I have used none had rubbed off during the night- major selling point for me.

Now I left this on for about 18 hours before rinsing- (I normally just wear trousers for work if I fake tan my legs and don't wash the tan off) and this gives the product plenty of time to develop. For some reason the longer the tan is left on my legs the better it develops. Normally with St Tropez when I rinse my tan off, more ends up in the bath than on my skin, hence me doing 3 coats for a night out. However what really shocked me with the Xen-Tan was that hardly nothing came off in the bath.

These pictures are my legs after one coat...
Check out the comparison!!!

Bronzed goddess!!

These were my legs on the Wednesday evening and they were still this brown on the Saturday when I went out. I'm really impressed with this- all is forgiven!!! Now I don't know how long it would take for it to fade gradually as on the Sunday I started the fake tan detox ready for my holidays. I will definately be purchasing their facial tanner to use on my face and this dark lotion!! I'm so glad I gave this another chance.

I spied in Look Magazine the other week that Xen-Tan will shortly be releasing a Scent Secure product which you put over the tan after 4 hours which changes it to a melon (I think) smell. Ideal for those who don't like the smell of fake tan.

Xen-Tan I salute you!!!

What's that coming over the hill...

Just realised that I haven't posted any pictures of my ugly mug on here in a long time, so I thought I would share an outfit of the night which I wore the other Friday when I went out for a birthday meal for my brother/staff night out at work. Nothing too flash- I think you can see how tired I was/face like a slapped arse.

I've got my new hair extensions in the pictures below- bit bizarre actually not having to dye them at the hairdressers, can't believe how much of a good match it was. They're supposed to be 18" more like 20". Not liking my thighs in these pictures neither- bloody tree trunks.

Yes its a Topshop Love In.
All clothing items are Topshop
Watch- Asos
Hair Extensions- http://www.buyhair.co.uk/

Sexy leopard print shoes- £20 New Look.
Nail polish- Opi Lincoln Park After Dark

Blog Stalker #3

Its Friiiiiiidddaaaaaaayyyyyyy and you know what that means...

blog stalker
blog blog stalker..

Can you tell I've had too much sugar this morning- I blame Lauren's latest creation for this. However they tasted fab!!!

Lets crack on...

Now I don't think Laura needs any introduction, as you will probably be well aware of her fab blog. Laura's blog was one of the first blogs I followed, and everytime I see her name pop up in my google reader I always make sure I read her posts. I love how Laura's blog appeals to everyone- as she has a great mix of posts(fashion, beauty, celebs etc). I always have some good banter with Laura on Twitter, and her two little boys are too adorable for words. Love!!!

The one thing I don't like about my computer at work is that for some reasons, certain blogs won't open, Charli's was one of them- so I only had the ability to read her blog when I was at home. Now when I've clicked on Charli's blog on my lunch to my amazement her blog now opens, so I've had a good catch up session (what a fab way to spend a Friday lunch at work). Like Laura's blog, Charli has a fab mix of everything on her blog. If you need hair advice- Charli is there for you. I love her honesty in her reviews and I value her opinion. Get following!!!

Ash is a newish blogger which I came across not so long ago, the lucky bugger is moving to Oz soon (Jealous- you bet I am). Really enjoy reading Ash's posts- love her outfits, her love for her other half (the way he got her to go out on a date was really cute), Korby the Ka. One thing which is totally unique to her blog and I think is a fab idea is her T-shirt Tues. Definately think you should check her out and get following asap.

The weekend- I'm all over it xx
